Each year an average of 200 nominations are submitted to the WOA Icons of Substance selection committee. Anyone, including fans, can nominate anyone active in the field of Fashion and Design, Media, Recording Artist, Modeling, Health, Education, Science and Technology, Philanthropy, Creative Arts(M.D.D, Film acting making), Live Performance, Business, Photography, Pageantry, Talent Managementas long as the nominee or his or her management approves the nomination (a letter of agreement from the nominate must accompany the application). Nominees must have a minimum of one year' experience in the category for which they are nominated and a history of "charitable contributions."[74] Posthumous nominees must have been deceased at least one year. At a meeting each, the committee selects approximately 50 or more Inductees to receive a medal of WOA Icon of Substance. The nominations of those not selected are rolled over to the following year for reconsideration; those not selected two years in a row are dropped, and must be renominated to receive further consideration. Living recipients must agree to personally attend a Recognition Dinner/ Induction ceremony within. A relative of deceased recipients must attend posthumous Inductions. Induction ceremonies are open to the public.

Nomination Procedure

Nominations are now being accepted by the KWILLZ FRATERNITY. Deadline for submission is Sunday, Sept 30, 2018 at 12 noon. All nominations will be considered at the annual WOA Icons of Substance Committee meeting to be held in Oct. The committee will make selections for the year 2018.

The WOA Icons of Substance includes categories:

• Fashion and Design

• Media

• Recording Artist

• Model

• Health

• Education

• Science and Technology

• Philanthropy

• Creative Arts(M.D.D, Film acting making)

• Live Performance

• Business

• Photography

• Pageantry

• Talent Management

• Games & Sports

All Nominations must include these documents:

• Photo of the nominee

• Brief bio of nominee - no more than 5 pages

• Nominee’s qualifications

• List of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation of the nominee

• Letter of agreement from the nominee or his/her management.

 

The committee will select approximately 50 or more names for induction. Nomination of an individual or group must be approved by the WOA Icons of Substance Committee, sometimes requiring several annual nominations before a nominee is selected to receive a medal. The most qualified nominees are eligible for a medal during the subsequent year.

Those not selected for the current year are requested to resubmit for the following nomination period. Should sponsor not want to make a second attempt, they must notify the KWILLZ FRATERNITY immediately, and the application will be pulled.

 

The criteria for receiving a medal consist of the following:

Professional achievement, longevity in the category of one year or more, contributions to the community and the guarantee that the Inductee will attend the Recognition Dinner / Induction ceremony if selected.

 

After the WOA Icons of Substance Committee has made its selections, the Fraternity’s Board of Directors also votes to approve the medal and then for a final approval, the names are submitted to the WOA Icons of Substance Committee for Publishing.

 

All honorees must be approved by the KWILLZ FRATERNITY, the decisions of which are final and entirely within the Fraternity’s discretion. Nomination and selection procedures, forms,

Special Rules for Performing Duos and Groups:

The current owner(s) of a performing duo or group name must consent in writing to the nomination before it will be considered. The names of all group members, past and present, must be included on the nomination form. The KWILLZ FRATERNITY reserves the right to condition award of any Medal honoring a duo or group on its discretionary satisfaction with the sponsor’s arrangements regarding honorees and the Induction ceremony.
